Buying from a private seller

If you are interested in a boat or other item and you require further information all you have to do is call the specific number at the bottom of each advert . If the number starts with 07096 this should be a private seller and your call will be linked direct to the seller. Nationwide Boat Sales Ltd will not get involved in any negotiations and we do not monitor calls.

If the telephone number starts with any number other than 07096 it should be a business selling the item, therefore your purchase has the normal consumer protection and the sale is then governed by that individual company's Terms and Conditions.

When buying something expensive like a boat, we would recommend that you get a marine surveyor to check out the boat before buying, or at least inspect the item personally before buying.

If you make an offer on a boat it is advisable to add conditions such as "subject to a sea trail", "subject to survey" etc.because this gives you a way out if something is not right. Even a verbal offer can be a legally binding contract

Most boats are sold without any problems, however buying something expensive like a boat can be fraught with problems and complications such as Marine Mortgages, proof of ownership, CE marking etc. and this is why Nationwide Boat Sales Ltd are shortly to launch a new innovative service specifically designed to reduce risk and mediate between you, the purchaser, and the seller.

Normally if you buy a boat through a respectable boat brokerage company then all these things should be checked by them before you buy.
